Marine collection takes Tenson back to their sailing roots

The classic clothing company Tenson is proud to present its first Marine Collection in 30 years. The collection is an important part of the company’s investment plans that will take the trademark to the leading position it once held as Sweden’s leading brand within swimwear and marine fashions. The Marine Collection is available at stores from the beginning of March.

‘At sea it’s very important to wear a garment that is sewn in such a way that allows the sailor maximum ability for movement. We have focussed on making sailing clothes that are both flexible and comforatble to wear without neglecting quality and functionality,’ says Johan Lövqvist, Tenson’s managing director.

Tenson, founded in Varberg in 1951, was during the 70s the leading brand within swimwear and marine fashions where garments for sailors made up for a large part of our assortment. A special collection was created for the Swedish team of the 1976 America’s Cup. The new marine collection is adapted for tough challenges and suited to both competitive sailors and the active outdoor enthusiast who wants to look good.

‘All garments have been well thought out and include attractive details, such as the orange coloured hood that features on all our jackets in the collection. The hood plays an important safety role too making it easier to spot if someone falls overboard,’ says Johan Lövqvist.

Tenson has numerous contributors with specialist knowledge within sailing and skiing circles that know what is needed for top quality functional clothing. Chief designer Catharina Carlander has a great interest for extreme sports and has also sailed throughout Europe in her own boat.

‘To be able to design garments from the aspects of my own experience is, of course, a lot of fun. It’s important that the details of sailors’ garments are well-thought out and fill a function. For example, the pockets must be correctly placed for maximum ease of use. The material of the garment must be accommodating to allow the sailor to move with ease around boat without feeling constricted,’ says Catharina Carlander.
