Tenson’s classic Himalaya jacket now for Ladies

Tenson’s Himalaya jacket was launched in 1972 and has sold in over 500,000 examples worldwide. It’s taken 37 years before a model of the classic all-weather jacket to become available for ladies. The waiting is now over.

’Yes, I’m surprised we haven’t been reported the discrimination authorities, but joking apart we have now put right our mistake and have introduced a Ladies’ model of the Himalaya jacket which is part of our Winter collection,’ says Johan Lövqvist, managing director of Tenson.

The Himalya jacket was first introduced in 1972 as a sailor’s jacket and soon became a popular winter jacket as it was both warm, water and windproof and made of a material that could breathe.

’We are very pleased that our classic model is now available in a more feminine look. The jacket is timeless and is ideal for all who like to be outdoors even if it’s cold, windy or raining,’ says Johan Lövqvist who last year took over the managing directorship of Tenson.

Tenson, founded in Varberg in 1951, has today a wide range of high-performance functional clothing for the active outdoor person and skiers. Jackets are Tenson’s biggest product representing 74% of total sales. The Himalaya jacket has over the years become Tenson ’favourite’ and an item that most customers relate the product to.

‘It’s still popular in sailing circles and we still get comments on how well the jacket repels rain, wind and the cold without the wearer becoming hot and sweaty. This makes it even the perfect jacket to wear for all winter activities. The jacket was well-loved during the 90s and became a trend setter in Sweden. It looks like becoming trendy yet again,’ says Johan Lövqvist.

The Himalaya jacket is made of Tenson’s own ’breathable’ material MPC, and wind/waterproof.
